Austrian Standards successfully relaunched their website and online shop using Pimcore and CoreShop, working closely with their in-house developers. The new setup simplifies processes and ensures smooth integration. The relaunch includes new features like event platforms, digital products, books, and standards. Austrian Standards uses Azure Service Bus to manage customer data efficiently, and real-time price queries are handled through Microsoft NAV. Their system also benefits from Pimcore’s performance tracking and secure login with OpenID Connect. Development is further enhanced with feature branch environments and Kubernetes for optimal performance.

Navigating Complexity: Pimcore Integration & CoreShop Rollout

The project’s challenge lies in its multi-stage launch process, beginning with replacing the Event Platform and seamlessly integrating it into Pimcore. This phase lays the groundwork for future stages, which include integrating CoreShop with events and digital products, followed by adding books and standards. Each stage requires careful planning, coordination, and execution to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruptions. The launches' diverse nature—from digital products to physical documents—adds complexity, necessitating tailored strategies for content management, data migration, and user experience optimization. Balancing technical requirements, stakeholder expectations, and project timelines presents a significant challenge, requiring thorough project management, effective communication, and agile problem-solving throughout the implementation.

After these integrations, we relaunched the website using a new design system implemented with Twig Templates and Storybook, ensuring a modular and future-proof approach.

Solution

Streamlining Success: Mastering Data Transfer & Integration for Seamless Operations

The project solution leveraged Azure Service Bus for seamless system communication. We efficiently imported customer data from XRM (Microsoft CRM) and processed 1.7 million standards. To address slow data transfer, we optimized by using Redis Stream and parallelizing tasks, reducing import time from three weeks to three days. We integrated live price queries to Microsoft NAV and incorporated Pimcore metrics using Symfony Messages, monitored by Prometheus and Grafana. Authentication and authorization were managed through OpenID Connect (OIDC). Using Kubernetes on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), we established feature branch environments for individual tickets, enhancing development agility and scalability.

For the relaunch and rebrush, we implemented Pimcore Sites and CoreShop themes to maintain the old design with the old content while presenting the new design with the new content, allowing a seamless transition and minimizing disruptions to the user experience.
